Corporate Health and its benefits

Globalisation, increased competition and rapid changes on the job market are prevalent in all the major industrialised countries. In addition we are seeing populations growing older while fewer highly qualified professionals are entering the job market.

We are only beginning to see the first signs of a  "war of talents". All the more important that companies take a closer look at corporate health issues. In the past too little focus has been placed on the human factor and what it means for a healthy or unhealthy state of a company.

In the United States alone the cost of psychological illnesses like depression and burnout are estimated at about 81.1 billion dollars annually. (Alan M. Langlieb - Harvard). In Germany the number of psychological illnesses has risen by 30 per cent between 2002-2008 (Federal Office of Statistics) with an annual cost estimated at around 24.5 billion euros. And there are no signs that this trend is abating.

Very often burnout or other psychological illnesses strike the high-potentials and key staff who have the energy and drive at the heart of a company. In certain instances the loss of such key players has led to huge losses or even the end of a business.

Why especially talented people are affected by burnout or depression has many reasons and each case needs to be looked at closely. However precautions can be taken with a sound corporate health policy. Our consultancy is focused on:

  • Organisational measures that make corporate health a key cost-cutting factor.
  • Personal health mentoring of management and other key players.
  • Incentives for staff taking part in health programmes.
  • Analysis of causal factors responsible for high absentee figures.
  • Implementing measures that emphasize a culture of human respect and value.
  • Bilingual international team fluent in both English and German based near the northern German port city of Hamburg.
